Youth Programs

Annual Horse Camp and Leadership Programs

Summer activities start at the beginning of June with the annual Youth Horse Camp. Participants in this week-long camp focus on safety, how to care for horses, groundwork, and riding skills. Campers are encouraged to continue to come to the ranch throughout the year for group rides, for horse training/care clinics, and to volunteer caring for the horses.

Youth volunteers are important and we strive to provide opportunities for them to grow in horsemanship and leadership skills. The youth program focuses on ethics engendered by the “Code of the West”.

Code of the West

1. Live each day with courage.
2. Take pride in your work.
3. Finish what you start.
4. Do what has to be done.
5. Be tough, but fair.
6. When you make a promise, keep it.
7. Ride for the brand.
8. Talk less, say more.
9. Know where to draw the line.
10. Remember, some things aren’t for sale.

At the Ranch we add

11. Honor the horses.
12. Honor the land.
